Why is primary care important?
Your primary care provider is your partner in lifelong health. Whether you’re staying healthy, managing a chronic condition, or addressing a new illness or injury, we’re here to provide coordinated, comprehensive care close to home.
Primary care includes several different types of visits, each designed to meet specific healthcare needs.
Preventive Care & Annual Wellness Visits
Preventive visits focus on helping you stay healthy through routine physical exams, Medicare Annual Wellness Visits, recommended screenings, immunizations, and personalized wellness planning. These appointments are designed to identify health risks early and help prevent future illnesses.
Care for New Illnesses and Medical Concerns
When you’re sick or develop a new medical concern, your primary care provider can evaluate symptoms, make a diagnosis, recommend treatment, and coordinate additional testing or specialty care when needed. Examples include cough, fever, sore throat, urinary symptoms, rashes, abdominal pain, and many other non-emergency conditions.

Chronic Disease Management
Many chronic medical conditions require ongoing monitoring and treatment. We work with patients to manage conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma, high cholesterol, thyroid disorders, and other long-term health concerns while coordinating care with specialists when appropriate.
Preventive Screenings & Diagnostic Testing
Routine screenings help detect many conditions before symptoms develop. Your provider will recommend preventive testing based on your age, medical history, family history, and individual risk factors and coordinate additional diagnostic testing when necessary.
Nutrition, Lifestyle & Wellness Counseling
Healthy lifestyle choices are an important part of disease prevention and chronic disease management. Our providers offer guidance on nutrition, exercise, weight management, tobacco cessation, and other healthy lifestyle habits. When appropriate, we coordinate care with registered dietitians and other specialists.
Vaccinations & Immunizations
Keeping immunizations up to date is one of the most effective ways to protect yourself and those around you. We offer recommended vaccines for children, adults, and older adults based on current clinical guidelines.
Understanding your visit
Not every appointment serves the same purpose.
- Preventive visits focus on wellness, screenings, and disease prevention.
- Problem-focused visits evaluate new symptoms, illnesses, injuries, or ongoing medical conditions that require diagnosis or treatment.
If a preventive visit also includes significant evaluation or management of a medical concern, your insurance may process part of the appointment as a medical office visit, which may result in additional patient responsibility depending on your health plan.
